Mammocon 2017

Day 1 was a Public Awareness Event. Teachers and leaders in various walks of life, students and media personnel were invited to listen to talks on early detection of breast cancer and myths and facts regarding breast cancer. The event was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Union Minister for Women and Child development, Smt. Maneka Sanjay Gandhi. Brig. Chander Mohan , President BISI, Dr. Bipin Batra, Director NBE & Trustees as well as the Secretary Board of Management, Sir Ganga Ram Hospital participated in the inauguration and addressed the gathering. The Hon’ble Union Minister addressed the gathering and remarked upon the importance of breast cancer screening. Brig. Chander Mohan addressed the gathering regarding the role of BISI in spreading awareness about breast cancer and screening for the same. Dr. Bipin Batra announced the initiation of a Breast Imaging Fellowship awarded by the NBE in India. This was followed by registration of attendees for free Digital Breast Tomosynthesis scans and lunch. Approximately 75 women, 15 media personnel and 15-20 other distinguish guests were present at this event. The audience interacted freely with the experts and many questions were put forth and answered.

Day 2 of MAMMOCON held on the 2nd of April 2017 consisted of an academic conference for which there were approximately 150 registrations apart from the faculty and honoured guests. The day focused on lectures in breast imaging, clinical applications, interaction between surgeons, pathologists and radiologists and problems and solutions in Breast Imaging & intervention. Experts in Breast imaging who gave didactic lectures included Dr. Aman Daftary, Dr. Bagyam Raghavan, Dr. Jyoti Arora, Dr. Rajeev Agarwal, Dr. Sangeeta Taneja, Dr. Shikha Panwar, Dr. Smriti Hari & Dr. Subhash Ramani. Dr. Seema Sud, Dr. Madhavi Chandra & Dr. Shelly Sharma also took lectures. Dr. Ramesh Sarin chaired a very interesting panel discussion on the Clinician, the Pathologist and the Breast Imaging Departments. Col. C.S. Pant graced the gathering. Col. A.K. Chaturvedi conducted a quiz at end of the day.
