The Third National Conference of the Breast Imaging Society, India -BISICON 2015 was held on  13, 14 and 15th November at Satish Dhawan Auditorium, Indian Institute of Science, Bengaluru.

The theme of the conference was ‘ Back To Basics” and it was co-hosted by the Indian Radiological & Imaging Association (IRIA- Karnataka Chapter) and Manipal Hospital Bangalore. The Scientific Programme was thoughtfully planned and executed in order to take the delegates through the basics of Mammography, Ultrasound and MR Breast. Sessions were devoted to clinical scenarios like an evaluation of the Axilla, Male Breast, etc.
The Panel discussion helped delegates clear their queries regarding Breast Imaging directly from the experts.

Newer modalities like Digital Mammography, Elastography, Automated Breast Ultrasound were discussed in the form of inter-active Debates.
Workshops were held in Mammography and MR Breast with active participation from the audience. The Hands-on Workshops on Ultrasound-guided  Biopsy and other Interventional procedures were hugely successful with participants honing their skills on chicken breasts. The MR Breast Advanced Workshop, held as a special session by Dr.Katja Pinker-Domenig on November 13th, was also much appreciated.

The conference was graced by two distinguished inter-national faculty Dr.Katja Pinker- Domenig from the University of Vienna, Austria and Dr. Elizabeth Macedo, Tulsa, the USA besides more than twenty National Faculty. More than 270 delegates registered for the conference and the Karnataka Medical Council awarded it 5 Credit points. There was huge support from the Trade too with all the stalls generating a great deal of interest. There was a good response from the Residents for the poster competition – Apollo Speciality Hospital, Chennai and Christian Medical College bagged the Top places.

The cuisine with a number of local flavors- Neer Dosa, Pathrani Fish, Bisibellabath, etc was also a hot favorite with the delegates.
An executive Committee meeting was held on November 13 and the General Body Meeting on the 14th.  Colonel Pant handed over the mantle of President to Brigadier Chander Mohan, Dr.Smriti Hari accepted another term as Secretary and Dr.Bhagyam Raghavan took over as Treasurer of BISI.
The next national conference is to be held at Chandigarh under the auspices of the Post Graduate Institute of India.
