EUSOBI 2014

India was the guest country in this year\’s Annual Scientific Congress of EUSOBI, held from September 26-27, 2014, in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. BISI President Col Pant and General Secretary Dr. Smriti Hari were invited to address the congress in a special interactive session “Europe meets India”. Col Pant put forth the current status and challenges in breast imaging in India. Dr. Smriti enumerated the vision and activities of young society. She emphasized the need to develop dedicated training programs in breast imaging, including teaching courses, workshops as well as fellowship, in India and sought collaboration and support from EUSOBI in this endeavor. Prof Francesco Sardanelli (President of EUSOBI) was very receptive to the suggestions and promised web-based training opportunities.

Other BISI members including Dr. Subhash Ramani, Dr. Shikha Panwar, Dr. Govind Padia, and Dr. Hiral also attended the session. The scientific program of the congress attracted more than 650 participants from Europe and the rest of the world. Highlights of the meeting included the spirited debate on preoperative MRI with the participation of Prof Monica Morrow and Prof Cristiane Kuhl as well and the Breast Interpretation Quiz.
